about
Documentary photographer based in Hertfordshire, capturing honest stories on film and digital.
Photography started as a way of documenting my own life. After a family trip to Hong Kong, I returned with an absolute need for getting a camera - something my wife was (rightly) skeptical about, as I very much have a habit of picking hobbies up and putting them down again. What neither of us realised was that this intended hobby, was going to become so much more to me and my life. I quickly learnt that it was a hidden passion, that is now being shared with everyone - a passion that has allowed me to make new friends, meet new people and work with some incredible people too.
I also realised that I wasn’t overly interested in creating the perfect pictures but I was more interested in creating photos that tell stories and that reflect genuine real life moments.
Today, I have photographed weddings, families, portraits and of course, personal projects - like street photography. However, I approach all of these in the same way, I try to avoid directing moments that don’t need directing. Instead I am actively looking for interactions, expressions and small details that people often forget happened until they see the photographs again.
I am someone who shoots on both film and digital. Film slows me down and encourages intention, whilst digital allows me to be flexible if the pace or surroundings change. Rather than specifically choosing one over the other, I bring and use both, knowing I can use whichever format that serves the moment the best.
Outside of photography, I’m usually busy spending time with my family - trying to make our moments count as well. You can, however, guarantee I will always have some form of camera on me at all times.
If my work or vibe feels like the way you want your moments remembered or captured, don’t hesitate to reach out to me here or on IG.
